    What is date spread?

    In a word: awesome. In more words: date spread is a similar concept to fig butter, apple butter, or peanut butter, but it's DATE based. We basically mash up dates, water, and our favorite flavors to create sweet, creamy, spreadable dates!

     

    What is date dough?

    Date Dough as a dry blend of ground dates, coconut flour, almond flour, and a flavor. That's it! There's nothing else like it. Date dough offers the experience of eating actual cookie dough, that is 100% vegan, paleo, grain-free, and keto-friendly without added sugar. All you have to do is add two tablespoons of water to a serving of date dough mix & you have ready to eat, plant-based dough, no baking required. Although we do include instructions on the back of each pouch on how you can bake actual date dough cookies!

     

    I've never eaten a date, what do they taste like?

    A lot of people say that dates taste like caramel. Other people (me) say that dates taste like gooey little glazed doughnut holes! Either way, dates are one of the most delicious, naturally sweet fruits on the planet and they are a fantastic source of fiber, vitamins, and minerals. You gotta try them!!

    There's an ingredient called "lactic acid" in every date spread, what is lactic acid?

    Lactic acid is produced naturally through fermentation and can be found in a variety of food products such as sourdough bread, salad dressings, and more! Like many food manufacturers we use lactic acid to stabilize the pH of our date spreads, which makes them shelf stable! 

     

    Are you Certified Kosher?

    Yes! 

     

    How many calories per serving? 

    Only 25 calories per tablespoon serving of date spread! For reference, most nut butters average 90-105 calories per tablespoon, cookie butter is a whopping 90 calories for the same amount, then chocolate frosting and hazelnut spread each have around 100 calories per tablespoon. Date Dough is 60 calories per two tablespoons. If you follow the instructions on the back of the pouch and mix 1/2 cup of date dough with 2 tablespoons of water you will get 4 balls that are 60 calories per ball. 

     

    What foods go well with date spread?

    Fruit: sliced apples, bananas, strawberries, mangoes, pears, etc.

    Grainy things: biscuits, muffins, toast, oatmeal, sandwiches (DB&J = Date Butter & Jelly) and definitely on pancakes and waffles! Try dipping pretzels and crackers in date spread too.

    Cold things: yogurt, acai bowls, chia pudding, ice cream, smoothies...

    Baked Goods: cakes, cupcakes, cookies, brownies, banana bread, cinnamon rolls... you can use Wanna Date? as a sweetener or oil substitute in any recipe. You can even use date spread instead of frosting!

    Combined with other spreads: Wanna Date? is really good paired with peanut butter, almond butter, jam, jelly, honey...and on a bagel with cream cheese!

    Get creative: Spread it on s’mores, dress it on a salad, sizzle it on bacon, set it up on your Thanksgiving table alongside the cranberry sauce and gravy, enjoy it on a nice charcuterie board... check out our Instagram for more awesome ideas!

    Closing thought: The best way to eat Wanna Date? is straight from the jar with a spoon. Just sayin'. 

     

    Do I need to refrigerate "Wanna Date?"

    YES. Date spread is shelf stable and you must refrigerate it after opening. Fact: It tastes better cold! Date Dough does not require refrigeration. 

     

    When will my product expire?

    There is a recommended "Best By" date printed on the top or bottom of every jar of date spread. You must keep the spreads refrigerated after opening and consume it within 60 days. Date Dough does not require refrigeration and also has a best-by date printed on the packaging.  

     

    The color of my date spread looks darker than I expected, why?

    Because we refuse to put fake color additives or dyes inside! Naturally, no date looks exactly the same. Some dates are bigger, some are smaller, some are super light brown, and some are on the darker side...the natural variance in the color of dates causes a natural variance in the color of our date spreads! One thing's for sure though, your Wanna Date? will ALWAYS taste INSANE.

    Unfortunately we cannot accept returns or exchanges once an order has been placed. Please choose your date spreads wisely!
